1. About CodeWeaver
CodeWeaver ("we," "us," or "CodeWeaver") is a coding education platform that teaches learners to build real software projects using an AI tutor. By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these Terms of Service.
2. Age Requirement and Parental Consent
CodeWeaver is available to users of all ages. Users under 13 require verifiable parental or guardian consent before an account may be created.
For individual sign-ups (under 13): A parent or guardian must create the account. By creating an account for a child under 13, the parent or guardian agrees to these terms and our Privacy Policy on behalf of the child.
When accessed through BrightRoot or a school: The enrolling teacher or administrator confirms they have obtained written parental consent for each student under 13 before granting access to CodeWeaver.
3. Subscriptions and Billing
CodeWeaver offers a free tier and paid subscription plans. Paid plans are billed monthly. Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period.
You may cancel your subscription at any time before the next renewal date. Cancellation stops future charges. We do not offer refunds for the current billing period unless required by applicable law. Contact [email protected] for billing questions.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Share your login credentials or access another user's account
- Use CodeWeaver to build software intended to harm or deceive others
- Attempt to copy, reverse-engineer, or scrape the platform or its curriculum
- Use CodeWeaver for any commercial purpose without written permission
- Submit content that is harmful, abusive, or violates any applicable law
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
5. AI Tutor
CodeWeaver uses an AI tutor powered by Anthropic's Claude to guide you through projects. The AI tutor is a teaching aid. It may make mistakes. We encourage learners to think critically about any guidance they receive. We are not responsible for errors or omissions in AI-generated content.
6. Your Content
Code and projects you build in CodeWeaver belong to you. By using the platform, you grant us a limited license to store your content in order to deliver the service. We may use anonymized, aggregated data (no names or identifiable information) to improve the platform. We will never sell your projects or attribute them to you publicly without your permission.
7. Intellectual Property
All CodeWeaver curriculum, lesson designs, platform software, and brand materials are owned by CodeWeaver. Nothing in these terms gives you a license to copy or redistribute CodeWeaver's course content.
8. Data and Privacy
Your use of CodeWeaver is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms. We comply with COPPA (US children's privacy law) and GDPR (UK/EU privacy law). Parents have the right to review, correct, and delete their child's data at any time.
9. Limitation of Liability
CodeWeaver is an educational tool. We do not guarantee specific learning outcomes. Our liability for any claim related to the platform is limited to the subscription fees you paid in the 3 months preceding the claim.
10. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be settled by binding arbitration in Delaware.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
